Almost every week, we get an e-mail or voice mail, asking us to take in a dog or puppy.

The reasons vary, most are due to economic conditions or a baby is on the way.

Realizing that these things happen and also knowing that there are more dogs and pups than people that are wanting to adopt, the concern comes that there is so much urgency in the requests.

Some allow for one day notice or even hours notice of the need to rehome the pet.

Rescues and shelters are over whelmed, we have one foster family and if we had more family's or people fostering we could help more.

Changes in the human world, usually take time to come about.

Before reaching a point of great urgency, we as humans, should recognize that we are the care takers for the pets and friends in our lives and give them the due consideration they deserve.

If we know change is coming then give our furry friends the chance to find a new home and be placed correctly.

Please pay them a visit on-line, and maybe you will see your new friend.

Please before considering or getting a puppy or dog as a holiday gift, consider what goes into bringing a puppy or dog into your home.

Sure, they are cute, friendly and like to cuddle and play, but they also need care, attention, training, leadership and shelter.

Plan on potty training a puppy. Plan on teaching the puppy right from wrong. This is not a job for a child but for the whole family.

Bringing a pup or dog into your home, means not leaving it tied up outside to a dog house or tree.

It means accepting the living, breathing and intelligent creature into your home and tending to its needs and desires.

There are so many in shelters and so many that are destroyed day in and day out, that we need to make a concerned and calculated decision before going out and acting on a whim to get a pup or dog for the holidays.
